Christopher Waluga
A Founder's Perspective
I did not train as a watchmaker. I trained as an architect, at the Bauhaus University, where good design was never treated as decoration but as something earned through function, proportion, and restraint. Those years still shape how I think about everything I do today, including how I think about watches.
My grandfather, who was an architect and a watch collector as well, sparked that curiosity long before Bauhaus did. Watching him wind his watch each morning, I began wondering what was happening beneath the dial: the quiet layers of wheels, springs, and bridges working together. Later, reading architectural plans and sections, I recognised the same language. A floor plan is not so different from a movement diagram. Both describe how levels relate to one another, how weight is carried, and how every part earns its place.

From Sketch to Timepiece
That way of seeing carries directly into Nordic Marine Instruments. We are not interested in watches that chase trends or crowd a dial with detail for its own sake. We want timepieces with the same clarity as a well-drawn plan, where nothing is added without reason and nothing essential is left out.

Inspired by the Nordic Night Sky
Under the Lights That Started It All
Scandinavia is where that clarity comes from. The long horizons, the quiet coastlines, the discipline found in Nordic design, all of it taught us that restraint can say more than excess. Symmetry, balance, and honest materials became the foundation of every watch we build, whether made for diving, for daily wear, or for tracking the phases of the moon.
Every watch we make follows the same principle: build quality first, design second, and let time itself be the only ornament it needs. That is what I set out to create when we started this company, and it is the standard we hold ourselves to with every new model.
