Why the Østersøen Blå is My Perfect Holiday Watch
Some watches feel like tools, others like jewelry, but the Østersøen Blå Mother of Pearl has become something else for me: a travel companion. Out of all the watches I’ve worn and collected, this one carries memories of places and moments I’ll never forget. From hiking through tropical jungles in Vietnam, to cooling off by waterfalls in Thailand, to standing on the rocky Maltese coast during golden hour, this watch has been on my wrist through it all.
This isn’t a technical review or a spec sheet breakdown, it’s more of a travel story with my favorite watch in the collection. The shimmering blue MOP dial shifts with the light like water itself, reminding me of the sea whether I’m in Europe or far from home. In the Nordics, it mirrors the Atlantic; in Asia, it sparkled against turquoise lagoons; and in the Mediterranean, it caught the fire of the setting sun.
For me, it’s the most magical dial in the collection, always surprising with new hues as the day moves, and this is what this article is about.
From Nordic Seas to Tropical Adventures
Although it feels right at home in the cold Atlantic or along the Scandinavian coastline, I’ve taken the Blå MOP much further in January this year. In Thailand and Vietnam, I wore it through humid jungles, past waterfalls, and to sunlit lakes and beaches.
Looking back, maybe the Østersøen Grøn MOP would have matched the jungle better, but at the water, the blue shimmer of the Blå was absolutely perfect, dancing like the ocean surface itself.
Golden Hour on the Mediterranean Coast
This summer, I traveled to Malta and met up with my friend Matt (Instagram: @mbp_matt), a talented filmmaker and photographer, who already worked with our first Østersøen collection.
Together, we went out to the coast, where dried coral stone beaches created natural saltwater pools. As the sun set, the watch came alive; the Blue MOP dial caught the golden light, shifting between deep blue and shimmering turquoise.
We filmed and photographed it during the perfect golden hour, though I admit the heat made us pay with sweat. No tears though, only smiles, as we cooled down afterward with ice cream and water. The Østersøen Blå itself got a refreshing dip in a saltwater puddle, cooling off in the most natural way possible.

That day in Malta confirmed what I already knew: the Østersøen Blå MOP is the perfect summer watch. It has a versatility that makes it feel at home both in the cold North and under the blazing southern, or even tropical, sun.
Whether you’re by the fjords, on a coral reef, or in the middle of a city, its understated case and oceanic dial strike the right balance of elegance and adventure.
Conclusion
My conclusion is that the Østersøen Blå MOP is simply the perfect summer watch and my favorite of the collection. For me it is even more than that, this watch became my holiday piece. And you know what makes me even happier? It doesn’t have a date. Who needs a date complication when you’re on holiday anyway? Don't rush, enjoy the time, and the Østersøen Blå shows it in the most beautiful way.
Time slows down, days blend into one another, and all you really need is a beautiful watch on your wrist that lets you enjoy every moment without distraction, except of the beautifully shimmering dial. For me, it’s the definition of a summer watch, and every time I put it on, I’m reminded of the adventures already behind me and the ones still to come.
